Hello! I am Megan, I go by
a few different names....Auntie, Coach, Sister, Daughter, but the most important
one of all is Mommy! My husband and I were blessed to welcome our son, Donovan
through adoption. While our journey was a difficult one, becoming a family of
three has been the best thing in our lives. We connected with our birthmother
and her family through outreach of our own and help from friends and family
members. We traveled out of state for our adoption, and made it to the hospital
in time for his birth (less than 2 hours!).Holding my son for the first time
truly was love at first sight, and I will never forget the feeling of the nurse
placing him in my arms for the first time after he was born.
There were many ups and downs
after Donovan's birth before we were able to leave the hospital, things we were
not prepared for, (Birthmother's emotions, boundaries, support, understanding)
but we got through it with the help and guidance from our friends (Shout out to
Melinda and Erin!!) and our amazing family. Through our experience on our journey
in adoption I found so many struggles that our agency didn't prepare us for, and
I am so privileged to be able to help other adoptive families through their
journey. Having the support of others who have walked down your same path is so
important to help you understand and get you through the difficult
times.
While the journey of
adoption wasn't easy, I will tell you it's worth it!
I feel like our agency did nothing to prepare us of the emotional toll going through several matches and still not being chosen has had on me.
